Exe Games 2009 Write-up - 4/8/09

This Sunday just passed held the annual Exeter “Exe Games”
extreme sports competition down at flowerpot skatepark, with a
rare summers day in England when the weather actually held out!
Considering it's been raining before and afterwards without relent,
someone out there must like us!
The day started at around half eleven and wound up at about half five,
and has been one of the most successful comps in Exeter for a couple of years,
although last year's wasn't too hard to beat as it got rained off.....

The day's events were set out in a “best trick” format, over 6 obstacles
for the 3 disciplines (cool rollerbladers, Tony-Hawk-Wannabies and the Chimps on Bikes :P).
This year Rocknrollerblade had the privilege of sponsoring the rollerblading side of the competition,
providing the 1st place prize of a rocknrollerblade tee shirt (by the way the tees are now ready!
Had a supply hiccup but we have plenty in now). What was good about this year was the fact that it was
officially a competition, but the way how everyone got on and supported eachother made the day just fee l
like a glorified session!
The commentary was done by Zeke: letting the crowd know that doing a “pornstar” is a grind and not
just a bunch of guys doing a pornstar, which was then shaded by the somewhat amateur
commentary by Jordan Owen when Zeke entered 3 of the events. “oh its a 370! retard.”

Some sick tricks went down on the day,  It was awesome to see friends hailing from the
likes of Plymouth and Weston super mare turn up down the park, and it was also great
to see the NIMH UK riders Oli Short, Leon Humphries and Mike Soul down, talking to the
locals and just having a chilled skate. It's exactly what the rollerblading scene needs;
everyone to just get on and have fun rolling around!

A big thanks to Tim for letting RNR sponsor the comp, I cannot thank you enough for it.
We would be more than happy to help out next year, with more prizes and a big banner on the quarter pipe!

Peace out

Rocknrollerblade does TNS! - 23/6/09

Recently the rnr locals have been going to a weekly
skate held on a tuesday night: where a nice healthy number
of south west skaters have all been meeting up and ripping
different spots around the south west.

The idea is the brainchild of SW rollerblader Adam Wallis,
and is responsible for breaking the local boundaries.
'Tuesday Night Skate' or TNS for short is slowly uniting the
south west scene, bringing us together as a big pack of wolves!

"How do I get involved?" I hear you cry?
simple, add the TNS South West group on facebook,
and "get on it!"
